About this course

Learn practical management techniques to help improve attendance, and discover what the law says you can and cannot do when managing workplace absence.

 

Half day course outline

  • To learn about the legislation involved with Fire Safety in the workplace.

  • To understand fire control in practice and fire prevention measures.

  • To identify the properties, maintenance and correct use of fire extinguishers.

  • To be able to safely evacuate a building, including helping those with disabilities.

  • To understand the health and safety issues associated with DSE and legislative requirements.

  • To learn, and teach other workers, how to assess, set up and make the workstation more comfortable and ergonomic.

The course uses a number of learning methods including presentation, demonstration, group discussions and practical exercises.

  • Legislation and regulations

  • How to prevent a fire

  • Fire extinguishers – properties, maintenance and their uses.

  • How to use a fire extinguisher

  • Procedures for emergency evacuations

  • Evacuations and the impact on vulnerable and disabled people

  • Reasons for managing health and safety – moral, economical and legal

  • Requirements for display screen equipment risk assessment

  • Risk assessment and workstation assessment control measures

  • How DSE can impact health.

  • Setting up a workstation correctly

  • Posture and breaks
