Learn practical management techniques to help improve attendance, and discover what the law says you can and cannot do when managing workplace absence.


Half Day course outline

  • To understand the importance of health and safety to employers and employees.

  • To learn the health and safety basics in the workplace

  • To identify hazards, develop detection techniques and learn the practical application of risk assessment techniques

  • To understand the requirements for monitoring and reviewing risk assessments

  • To build a thorough understanding of the specific requirements of lone, pregnant and young workers.

The course uses a number of learning methods including presentation, group discussion and practical exercises.

  • Manual handling

  • Reporting Injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences

  • Provision and use of workplace equipment and personal protective equipment

  • Display Screen Equipment and ergonomics and workstation design

  • First Aid

  • Fire and electrical safety

  • Hazardous substances and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

  • Identifying hazards and risks

  • Objectives of risk assessments

  • The five stages of risk assessment

  • New and expectant mother’s assessments

  • Young person’s assessments
