About this course

Making decisions on who will join your organisation and who is right for the job are critical and have long term implications. This course will equip delegates with the skills to ask the right questions and ascertain whether candidates have the competencies and experience relevant for your needs.

  • Learn how to conduct professional, consistent recruitment interviews

  • Prepare behavioural profiles for roles in your organisation

  • Learn the technique of behavioural interviewing

  • Practice effective question techniques to gain important information

  • Explain the do’s and don’ts for effective selection interviews

  • Understand employment law related to interviewing

  • Practice the skills learned Learning Methods


The course uses a number of learning methods including a pre-course questionnaire, discussion, DVD, group exercises and role plays.

  • Job descriptions and behavioural or competency profiles

  • Question techniques

  • Preparing for and conducting interviews

  • Film: Behavioural Interviewing

  • Discussion and group exercises

  • Law relating to interviewing

  • Role plays – skills exercise

  • Observations and feedback

  • Prepare an action plan
